How to check your remaining stay through EES
Open the EU’s Check how long you can stay service. It returns an OK or not-OK answer and information about the remaining authorised stay for travellers within its scope. This is an allowance check, rather than a complete downloadable travel-history report.
The service asks for travel-document details. Enter those on the official EU service. SchengenRules.com does not need your passport number to run its own date-based calculator.
What information does the official checker need?
- Select the travel-document type, enter its number and choose the issuing country or territory.
- Select the country using EES that you are visiting or plan to visit.
- Use an intended arrival date to check a future entry, an intended departure date for an ongoing stay, or both dates for a proposed trip.
- Read the remaining-stay information and the service’s current notices before relying on the result.
You can also ask passport-control officers at external borders about the remaining authorised stay. If the result does not match your records, check the document details and trip dates, and follow the official service’s guidance.
Read the service notices in context
The official checker states that its remaining-stay result does not reflect visits that began before 10 April 2026, even if they continued after that date. If such a visit can still affect a calculation, keep it in your own history and check the applicable rules.
The same page carries a separate warning for certain single- and double-entry visas that applied through 6 October 2026. That warning period has already ended as of this guide’s review on 17 October. Check notices against your actual travel date rather than treating an old transition warning as permanent.
The checker explains its eligibility limits, including particular residence and free-movement situations. An app or personal calculation cannot change the official record or resolve a status exception.
